The Woodentops is a wood carving group, based in Orpington. Established in 1997 our membership includes carvers of all abilities from novice to advanced. All are welcome to join or just come and visit us to see how we work. Typically our membership is drawn from South East London and North Kent. We meet every first Saturday of the month, with the exception of January, between the hours of 9.00am and 1.00pm. Our venue is St John’s URC Church Hall, Lynwood Grove, Orpington, Kent BR6 0BD. Please read our newsletter for more details. Our latest newsletter is available to read on this site each month.
We are not a class as such, more a group of carvers of all abilities who help each other. All are welcome to come to our sessions and there is no obligation to join the group, we just like to welcome people who are interested in what we do. We even provide free refreshments! Our members are always more than happy to discuss their work. Regarding membership, it is open to all, irrespective of ability. We are a self-help group and there is no shortage of advice, contacts and knowledge. We sometimes exhibit at Bromley Library and at various other locations. From time to time we stage an exhibition at St John’s Church Hall, an all day event, open to the public, with profits going to charity.
We are affiliated to the British Woodcarvers Association. Benefits include:
